I'll take Useless Crap for 4500, Alex
Here. Have some week-old answers!

By special request, there is a theme overlaying the usual categories this week. I'll leave it to you all to figure it out!

Same rules as always: NO Internet, post your submission, and highlight for the answers after I post them later.

1. To cure Desert Fever, one must acquire a Sand Ruby. Where can one be found?
2. What causes Teal'c to dream that he is a human firefighter, and has agreed to donate a kidney to Master Bra'tac (also apparently human now)?
3. Fill in the blank: "This isn't part of my program! I'm a doctor, not a ________." - Emergency Medical Hologram
4. What is the name of the chemical used by members of The Cadre that slows the perceptual passage of time, giving them superhuman reaction time? What is the primary drawback of its use?
5. Approximately how much blood does the average adult human body contain?

1. Should one be unfortunate enough to contract this affliction while crossing the desert near the oasis village of Kaipo, better hope someone is around to retrieve the Ruby from the lair of the ant-lion.
2. This surreal episode of Stargate SG-1, written by Christopher Judge (the actor who portrays Teal'c), includes a hallucination in which the organ transplant is representative of the need to share his Goa'uld symbiote with Bra'tac to survive following an ambush that leaves both grievously injured.
3. This particular permutation of the infamous Bones-Kirk exchange is notable because it is used by the EMH in First Contact. Upon activation, he is told by Beverly Crusher to "create a distraction" for the Borg drones about to break the door down, to which he replies that he is a doctor, not a doorstop.
4. Cadre members are privy to the most classified of pharmaceutical packages for their personal internal pharmacopes. The pinnacle of such chemical enhancements is called "the tick", which, while granting superhuman response time in almost any situation, has the unpleasant side effect of violent nausea and vomiting every time its effects wear off, leaving the user feeling like his or her stomach has just been through the wringer. If none of this makes any sense, I recommend Path of the Fury, by David Weber ^_~
5. The approximate volume of blood in an adult human is roughly five litres.

Good luck!

2. Passing a single symbiont back and forth between them to sustain them falling an attack.
3. Doorstop, if you mean his cameo from the movie "First Contact". He may have said it during Voyager though.
5. Five litres, I think. Or was that after you give blood? I only glanced over the literature.

All I can answer this week is #1; a Sand Ruby can be found, of course, in the Antlion's cave.

It's okay; there's no danger. The antlion is tame.

1. AAAAURGH! I know this! (Well, clearly I don't, but ...) It's from a Final Fantasy Game. Like an old proper one with sprites and none of this FFX and greater polygons.

Therefore my answer for #1 is "in the desert. You have to kill a big scorpion thingy to get it" This is a WAG.

2. He and Bra'tac were very very nearly killed in a huge battle (can't remember where) and had to share a symbiote. Michael Shanks was having his season off (also known as the "I want more money and prestige" fight), but came back for that episode to keep Teal'c company. Got Stargate on the brain, have we?

3. Mechanic? Maybe? I've seen this episode, durnit!

4. (a) dunno. (b) tremors and eventually psychosis.

5. Approximately 3.5 L in a standard 70 kg adult. This varies with age, kidney function, cardiac output, etc. and can be significantly altered in the setting of third spacing from liver failure or hypoalbuminemia.

Of note, this is anywhere from 50-250 times the blood volume of a neonate, especially a premature neonate. Standard practice involves giving vaccinations (such as HebB) at half the adult dose to children under 36 months. This can cause some unusual side effects. For example, in a very rare case, giving the HepB vaccine will cause a very transient antigenemia in an adult, which is not well known. What is almost not known at all is that giving the HepB vaccine to a newborn will cause an antigenemia, for like a month, so if you happen to test them for HepB in that time, you'll get a false positive. Oops.

Of note, other people's answers to #5 are correct and mine is wrong. You asked about Blood Volume, I answered with Plasma Volume. The difference is accounted for by the volume of the cells in the blood itself.

1. All true, despite not containing the actual answer. You're WAG is half right, though =)
2. Correct.
3. Newp! It's not an 'episode'. This is the Movie question ;)
4. Tsk, tsk!
5. Bwahaha, this is what you get for being TOO smart =D

1) Hmmm... this sounds generic enough that it could be from one of a dozen different games. So let's go with a generic answer: in the desert!
2) Crap. I've even seen this episode... Oh, wait! Right - the temporary removal of his symbiote.
3) I've seen this, too. I want to say "roadblock", 'cause that's what he was, but that's not it. "Distraction"?
4) Nope, no clue.
5) 6 quarts.

1. Also half right.
2. Well, it was rather permanent, but yes, it was sharing a symbiote.
3. You're very close.
4. I know this book is in your house =)
5. Within acceptable parameters!

1. Antlion's Nest
2. He's actually sharing a symbiote with Brae tac due to some serious wounds in a battle where bra tac's symbiote has been killed.
3. "Commando?" I believe there are a few passable answers here.
4. it ages you prematurely, but I don't know what it's called.
5. 5. But the brain hides some.

1. The sand ruby can only be acquired from the lair of the Antlion in Damcyan, but only by a member of the Damcyan royal family. Unfortunately, this means you have to lug their inbred son along with you in order to do this. Also, I am currently in the process of doing exactly this on my current run-through of the game, coincidentally :)
2. He and Bra'tac have both been wounded severely in battle and are sharing a single Goa'uld symbiote to survive.
3. That's an evil question. That line has been ripped off hundreds of times. The original McCoy version was "bricklayer", but I think the one you're referring to is "doormat".
4. No idea the name, but the stereotypical drawbacks would be some form of vascular disease.
5. Approximately six liters. Enough to feed two average adult vampires for a day, by my estimation.

1. And I just finished that part last night on my playthrough =)
2. Bingo.
3. SOOOOOO close, enough so that I think you know the specific source.
4. Logical, but not the correct drawback.
5. Close enough for government (or vampiric) work!

Do I at least get points for knowing that "I'm a doctor, not a nightlight!" is how Robert Picardo got the job in the first place?
